To Jazz

Perhaps in the organization you belong to, "fill a form and submit an annual fee" is all that membership in the organization represents

However in most organizations membership in an organization is defined and means what the organization has defined it to mean.  Similarly with Registration. Many organizations require that you pay a fee for becoming a member. The same organizations may also register their members as belonging to particular sub-groups. For example judges, competitors etc. And require them to pay an additional fee for belonging to a particular sub-group. What is difficult to understand?

"Fill a form and pay annual fees" applies to practically everything.  To suggest that it means membership and registration are interchangeable is really nonsense.

"organization is defined and means what the organization has defined it to mean".

Nevertheless.

I thought I was the only one to see it that way.  Exactly, Membership and Registration  are  two different things.

One does not mind to register to participate,  one may object and question the reasoning for need of  becoming a member to participate in perhaps a once a life-time event.
